So I did the Brazilian wax.. It was surprising.. Ok it hurt no lie but the outcome was very good. I think after the 1'st few times you would get a little numb to the pain. Definitely worth it though.

I just started laser hair removal today! I go to an American Laser center in my town and for underarms and arms it cost me about $1800. I received a $300 coupon by going to their website and entering their contest. They accept cash/credit/check or they also have a finance program if you are approved. I will have one session every 6 weeks. It usually takes 6 sessions to completely get rid of the hair. A great candidate is someone who has light-medium skin and has dark hair. Hope this helps

@Ch0xie No, it kind of feels like a rubber band snapping in one area....or like when you get shocked when you touch a shopping cart....some parts hurt worse than others and some don't hurt at all, but it also depends on your skin and hair type, I have very dark hair with a very light complexion so the laser works better for me, for someone with darker skin it might hurt more, but they can adjust the settings.

I have had upper and lower legs (3 sessions), underarms (4 sessions) and bikini area (3 sessions) treated with a machine similar to this one. It was 7 years ago and I am still hair free. There are leftovers here and there and I think it's a coverage issue while being treated, I shave them once or twice a month. I am hairier than most people, with a Mediterranean skin complex. @saeedsnne yes it is possible to treat the entire body although some clinics might not do it. The pricing ranges dramatically based on several factors such as geographical location and the type of equipment the clinic uses. Treatment in areas without curent hair growth would prove to be ineffective. @LebaneseGirl3058 Hair grows in three different stages, anagen, catagen and telogen. Because the hair can only be targeted in one of these stages (anagen) you need to have a series of treatments. Depending on the area the treatments are usually spaced 812 weeks apart and it usually takes 3-6 treatments to reduce all the hair in a particular area. In between treatments you should be hair-free and as the treatments progress you will begin to see less and less hair. (*With a real laser not an IPL)

The areas i had treated, front and back neck which showed the best results 10 % hair left, cheeks 50% hair left ( i have different hair growth's on my cheeks) above brows 10% hair left. Overall its worth it, sometimes the hair does grow back but very light. My friend had 6 treatments, its been nearly a year and his hair hasn't grew back. If you have fair/dark skin tone and your hairs dark and thick then it would work best, thats from my experience so far. Hope this helps.

I have had 4 treatments out of 6, the 1st 2 treatments were effective as the laser was on the highest setting (leaving me with heat spots as i have very sensitive skin) I went for my 3rd and 4th treatment they put it on a very low setting 'to target the light hairs' when i go in for my 5th treatment i will tell them to put it back on the highest setting. (sometimes they do this towards the end to make customers pay for more treatments)

If it was your first treatment then the practitioner is right. Some hairs will grow again and will fall out. Your practitioner should have told you about the effects to expect before the first treatment. Maybe the settings were to high for your skin type , mines was on max which is high and its painful on some parts.

@kundudance sorry to hear that...it sucks to pay big bucks and have crappy results. it kinda depends on what laser they are using, they have gotton alot better *i see alot of laser claims, but they are ipl which is different and not as good. also, results are better w/ lighter skinned ppl. since what the laser is doing is seeing the pigment in your hair to zap it. if you have darker skin, its harder to see the pigment.

@amberkanani72 well from my experience it is not permanent. ive done it 3 or 4 times and its pretty much all grown back. there is some little ares which is not back to normal but i see the hairs growing. i say it should be back to normal in 5 months. i got this done a year and a half and i say 85 percent is back. ther is no data that proves its permanent. ive done the research.

@kundudance it is permanent. it does not all grow back, unless you go to one of the bogus operations. i am a laserographer and it really does permantly kill the hair. everyone is different, so some may need more treatments than others. ive heard bad stories of old lasers claiming to do stuff they cant. remember this is a very new treatment in the industry considering.... they have really improved things.

The hair on my face was very coarse & hard. I would use a brand new gilllette mach 3 blade which would last me only about 2 or 3 shaves because my hair was that hard. I would also have to soften my hair with hot/warm water to soften the hair, the warm/hot water would flare up my rosacea. Thats another reason i got laser done.

@MurphGiovanni yes it hurts like hell. I have dark coarse hair on my face. It's the perfect hair for laser to target. But the more coarser your hair is the more it hurts. In the beginning when i started it hurted so much tears came running down my eyes. But as the treatments progressed it still hurted but a litttle less. I took the pain because i know the end result will be worth it less or no hair to shave on my face. Thank God i don't have to shave my face anymore ever perhaps.

This poly-chronic light is the reason why IPL is prone to damaging skin. Eg, Mediterranean skin types do not handle IPL very well. There are dermatologists in Sydney that offer IPL for improvement of pigmentation, however, they are honest enough to deter their Mediterranean clients from it because it does more damage than good. Do you work at an IPL clinic? They'll convince you they're the best by using technical words. Final note, all information points to lasers being more effective.

The truth is that our hairs grow through our entire life and I know of nothing that can prevent them from showing up as we have it genetically programmed to have hairs growing at certain spots at certain age. Lasers, IPL etc. destroy only the active hairs at the moment, this does not mean that in 10 years you will not have new hairs growing, but they will be only few and thinner.

@MissMission I disagree with you. The lasers have monochromatic light, which does not go deep enough in the skin, like the ruby, alexandrite and diode lasers. When the laser's wavelength allows for deeper penetration like the ND:YAG ones the pigmentation of the hair does not accumulate enough energy for destroying the follicle. The IPL photoepilation uses poly-chronic light, which combines the advantages of all lasers without their disadvantages.This way even the deepest follicles are destroyed

The scare tactics by doctors and especially newscasters in this video are appalling. They will find the few individuals who have a problem and then sensationalize the heck out of it! 99.9% of individuals do not have complications with laser hair removal although I do agree that legislation should be required for all states but not necessarily that doctors alone should do the procedures because then the costs will go through the roof without quality competition.

Permanent hair removal is impossible, that much is true. Hair grows in cycles and even with laser/IPL it takes some 2 years to remove 90% at best. Then when you get older, other hair follicles are activated due to medicines or hormones and you get new hair. So in conclusion: permanent removal of all hair is wishful thinking.

@HockeyDiane Shaving is definitely quicker per session, but you have to do it every day. The nono takes about 10-20 minutes, but you only do it once or twice a week. Kind of a toss-up really, but I hate having to shave every day so I like this and epilation better.

@exactdigital I had to think about this one for a few ... and I'd say, no, don't use it on your head. Since it is supposed to damage the follicle and prevent hair growth, you might decide one day you want hair again and this could make it thinner. Good thought though. Thanks for watching!

Very informative! I shave me head all the time, bald men hate me because I can grow my hair out to my knees but I started shaving my head back and college and have not looked back, so I wonder if this would be effective on my scalp or would that be a no no for the nono ;-)

@lottie123999 It comes with a really cheap little brush that you can use to brush the unit clean - I never really used it. They need to be changed every few weeks, more if you use it more frequently and less often if you don't use it as much. Hope that helps.
